What Did You Play This Week Productions

Hello, and welcome to Week 57 of the What Did You Play This Week Podcast Thing, I’m your host, Brandon. Thank you for listening. The What Did You Play This Week Podcast Thing is a weekly podcast in which we talk about the games that we have been playing with our family and friends. Sometimes that’s a lot, sometimes not much, but there is always something to talk about. This week on the show we do something a bit different. A couple weeks ago, myself, Kerensa and my Brother in Law Brad and Sister in Law Kate sat down and we played through the first case in T.I.M.E Stories. And while Kerensa and I talked about it a bit back in Week 55 we kept that episode completely spoiler free. Well, not this one, this one is chalk full of spoilers, so I’m going to say that as many times as I possibly can right now, spoiler spoiler spoiler spoiler. So, if you don’t want the Asylum Case from T.I.M.E Stories spoiled, don’t listen. While we really don’t get into to many specifics we do hit on some major points in here. I hope that those who listen to the show will enjoy it, I know there are a couple things I need to do next time if I am going to do more remote group recordings and I kind of think I will if I can get folks to actually talk. So hopefully next time I do this, there is a shock mount on the mic and a boom for it so it’s not sitting directly on the table that we are sitting at. But if you want to continue on, by all means enjoy the show, we had some laughs while recording it, we hit on a couple frustrations with our play and we also try to highlight what we really found fun with it. Along with a couple tangents, sorry about the Android bickering for a few seconds. One thing, towards the end I kind of talk about the RPG elements, or rather the lack of. I’ve kind of switched my thoughts on that and I think Space Cowboys kind of did a disservice by even mentioning Role Playing in the rule book. It’s a story telling game, not an RPG. Brad is more right in the podcast than I am, but I’ve come around. Next week, Week 58 we should return to the normal podcast with Eric, Derek, Patrick and whomever else wants to join in the fun.

Well, I could have sworn that week 53 would have been a bit shorter than this but I think that at the 50 minute mark we fill it with quality!

No Story Time with AnnaBeth this week, she was a bit worn out after the Thanksgiving holiday so she took a pass, hopefully she'll be back and raring to go next week. In the meantime we've got Kerensa and I talking some games!

Isle of Skye

Oregon

6 Nimmt

Linko

Viticulture

Cash n Guns

7 Wonders Duel

We've also got Ray Shell hopping back on the podcast to give us a bit of a rebuttal to our T.I.M.E Stories talk from last week, we've got Derek Davis starting up a new Evolving Review where he's going to try to review a game 10 weeks in a row as he learns and plays it and ultimately decides if it stays in his collection, Mage Knight is the chosen game this go around.

I talk a bit about a couple Kickstarters

Tavarua

Fantasy Fantasy Baseball

Then Patrick Hillier closes us out by telling us a bit about his BGG Con experience, and even manages to review a small Cribbage app in the process.

Give us some feedback, give us some reviews. If we get 5 more reviews on iTunes before Christmas, I'll do a small game giveaway. If we get 10 more reviews before Christmas, I'll give away something even bigger!!

Thank you all for listening! Have a fantastic week!

Wow, we've made it a year!!!

So this is the anniversary podcast and it really does feature everyone.

We start out the podcast with AnnaBeth and her Story Cubes and follow that up with a little bit from Kerensa and I about Project Dreamscape the only game that we got to play together this week. I did have a game night but we'll hit that next week.

Then we follow up with a podcast round table featuring Chris Renshall, Joe Brogno, Patrick Hillier, Derek Davis, Eric Booth and special guest Jason Hancock from the Docking Bay 94 Podcast. We talk about all sorts of things, what we've been playing, why we play, our game groups and even some design aspirations and non-aspirations. We touch on the T.I.M.E Stories brouhaha a bit and round out the conversation with a bit of Kickstarter talk.

I round out the podcast by giving my thanks to everyone who has contributed to the podcast in one way or another, either by interview or by contributing segments to the show.

Thank you all for listening! Let me know what you think. I'm kind of hoping this can become a regular thing for the show, possibly a quarterly discussion.

Feedback! Reviews! We love them all!!

Thank you listeners for a great year, here's to the next!

Cheers!

Welcome to Week 51, one week before the big 52 milestone, well, it's a milestone to me anyway. :)

This week AnnaBeth continues to tell us stories using Rory's Story Cubes, and then Kerensa and I discuss:

Snowdonia

Kingpins

The King Is Dead

Then we talk a bit about Kickstarter and my history of what I've backed, what I've received and most importantly, what's actually been played.

Then Patrick joins us to talk a bit about board game apps and how they can help get the physical game to the table or it can even hinder it.

My apologies if things seem a bit rushed, I was starting to feel ill while recording and I basically edited this wrapped in a blanket with a jacket on and still shivering. I hope it turns out listenable and enjoyable.

Be ready though for Week 52!! Our contributor round table with Eric, Patrick, Chris, Joe, Derek and special guest Jason Hancock.

Hopefully it's a lot of fun for you all to listen to, because it was alot of fun for us to record.

Somebody get me some Vitamin C!!! I can't miss game night on Monday.

Well, it was a really good week of gaming, which would make sense since it was a great week for being a Kansas City Royals baseball fan. We joined 800,000 other fans in Kansas City on Tuesday and celebrated the only way we know how, being loud and dressed in blue. Really was a fantastic experience.

But anyway gaming wise we tackled a few this week:

Mystery Rummy Jekyll and Hyde

Snowdonia

Castles of Mad King Ludwig

Snowdonia (again)

Burgle Bros

Isle of Skye

Kickstarter wise we talk about

Kodama

The Great Dinosaur Rush

Monster Truck Mayhem

Keep

Patrick pops in to review the Android app, Elder Sign at the 31:35 mark on the show.

Then we close it out with a single acquisition and some talk about what the blog is going to probably become.

Thanks for listening!!!

Welcome to Week 49 of the podcast. I am trying to do things a little different this week, instead of having Kerensa come in after I talk about what we played I figured we'd try our hands at doing the podcast together and I hope everyone enjoys it, please give us feedback on what you think. But before we get to that, AnnaBeth gives us her 2nd Story Cubes with AnnaBeth segment. Then Kerensa and I talk a bit about the games we played this week including:

Carcassonne

The Gallerist

Lanterns

Downfall of Pompeii

After that, Joe and Chris from The Cardboard Architects Podcast join us and tell us what they've been playing the last couple weeks, and they do make up for missing last week with a lot of good talk.

I talk a little about Kickstarter and Acquisitions of course, but Eric Booth closes out the show giving us his Top 10 Games that he has played 5 times or more, really a great list. He also mentions a charity event that he will be taking part in, 5th Annual Gamers for Cures 24hr Boardgame Marathon for the Turner Syndrome Society of the United States. The link to donate to this fantastic cause is below. This is an annual fundraiser now in it's 5th year and it's organized by Dan Patriss who you all may know from the Geek All Stars Podcast. If you do donate, give a shout out to Eric, I know I am going to.

http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/gamersforcures/2015

That's it for this week, it's late, really late and the Royals are World Series champions, so my twitter feed will go back to being 99% about board gaming again.

Thank you all, and once again, if you have any feedback that you'd like to give, please do, I'd love to hear it as we are continually trying to improve the show and make it better for the listeners.

Have a great week!

Wow, this one got away from me in a big way, clocking in at just over 50 minutes. I honestly wasn't expecting it, but I rambled a bit and we had some good company around as well.

(apologies for the mic issues during Kerensa's and AnnaBeth's segment, I didn't realize the good mic wasn't working and the on board mic was the one doing the work)

We kick off the show with AnnaBeth and her new segment, AnnaBeth's Story Cube Stories at the 2:26 mark of the show.

I talk a ton of games including:

Small World

Nefarious

A Game of Thrones The Card Game Second Edition

KingPins

Game of 49

Takenoko

Eric joins us to do a review of the newest game from Matt Riddle and Ben Pinchback, Floating Market. 15:00 mark

Kerensa joins us at the 24:44 mark to talk about our Saturday night gaming with Gabby.

At the 32:10 mark, Patrick gives us a review of the new Android app for Martin Wallace's classic rail building game, Steam.

After that I remind folks about World's Fair 1893, times running out on the Kickstarter!!

At the 36:55 I give my hopefully temporary goodbye to one of my favorite podcasts, Punching Carboard.

And I wrap up the show with the 15 games that have been the longest between plays in our collection and talk a bit about the wonderful tool, FriendlessTools.

That's it, didn't seem like it should take almost an hour, but it did, and I can tell you from editing, it feels like an hour. Feedback is welcomed and always wanted, please drop us a line and let us know what you think of the show, of the contributions of the music choices, anything. We'd love to hear from you.

Have a great week!

Welcome to week 47!! This week I talk a few games, since I actually got to play a game every day this week with the exception of Sunday.

Carcassonne with Expansions

Islebound

Castles of Burgundy

Seasons

Steampunk Rally

Nevermore

Onirim

Star Realms

Then Joe and Chris from the Carboard Architects podcast join us to talk a bit about games they've been playing from a designer standpoint and why Dominion, Ascension and Star Realms feel too solitarish. 15:44

After that I answer a question from our BGG Guild page about my RPG experience. Thank you Aaron and Stephanie for that question!

Kickstarter:

World's Fair 1893

The Great Dinosaur Rush

Kodama

Only one acquisition this week but it let to a bit of retrospection, Snowdonia.

Question for the listeners and readers:

What is your favorite RPG setting, and what would be your favorite class to play. Or, if you’re more into the independent RPGs like Fiasco and such, what is your favorite RPG system?

https://boardgamegeek.com/article/20664649#20664649

Don’t forget, we love feedback and I hope that you all can see that any feedback that we’ve gotten so far we’ve tried to run with and make the show better. I’m thinking of adding bumper music in between segments as that’s something that I’ve always been told is a good thing to do to make the show sound more professional, but that’s not going to be an immediate thing, but I’ll be working on finding the right music to guide us through segments. Also, if anyone, and I mean anyone, wants to contribute, we’d love it. I like making this show with a few more voices than mine and my family, which I need to get back on soon, but they’ve been busy, well most of them have, AnnaBeth has no excuse. Just shoot me a message on Board Game Geek, Twitter, email or smoke signals for that matter. Just let me know. Also, I hate to ask for reviews, but I’d love to see a review or two up on iTunes if folks have the time and feel like they’d like to give us a good review.

But most of all I just want to say, Thank you for listening and we’ll be back next week at the same time, same place. Have a great week!

What was a light week in gaming, turned out to be a HEAVY week in acquisitions.

Eric kicks us off with a review of the Board Game Stats application on iOS.

Then I talk a bit about the games we've played, not a lot mind you but we did get to play some Lanterns, some Isle of Skye, Star Realms and even an attempt at Game of Thrones The Card Game 2nd Edition.

Kickstarter talk is all about 7th Continent, World's Fair 1893 and The Great Dinosaur Rush.

Then we get into the meat of the program this week which happens to be acquisitions, so be sure to check that out and be sure to not encourage me anymore, this week was pretty big.

Also we close out our talk about Spiel 2015 with a short wrap up of what we saw and the final "Top 10" from the Fairplay website that covers Spiel.

Then Patrick closes us out with a review of the Camel Up app for Android and a bit of talk about what makes conventions special to him, here's a hint, it's not the games.

Reach out to us with any feedback, questions or just to chit chat! We'd love to hear from you!!

What Did You Play This Week Podcast Thing Week 45!!!

Hey everyone, I hope you all enjoyed last week's episode. I'm looking forward to creating more episodes of that length with that much content in the future, but for this week we're back to our 30 minute or so podcast. But that doesn't mean we didn't bring the content, because oh yeah, we brought it again.

This week in games we've been playing I talk about TroyesDrachenStarkAnimal Upon Animal and Isle of Skye,

Joining us this week with their inaugural segment on the show are the two creators of the Cardboard Architects Podcast, Chris Renshall and Joe Brogno. They are going to talk a bit about the games they've been playing, but they are going to talk about those games from a designer point of view, which is something really cool for us here as I'm not a designer. They talk Tiny Epic GalaxiesPandemic The CureCastle Panic and Telestrations.

You can find Chris and Joe on Twitter @TGIKGames and @TheBlueMuzzy and also you can find The Cardboard Architects on Twitter at @cbapodcast. Give 'em a follow but most of all, give them a listen!!

Then at the 23:23 mark Eric Booth joins us to tell us a little about himself and how board gaming has helped him with his anxiety issues. Fantastic stuff from Eric and I hope to hear more about this in the future.

We wrap up the show by announcing the winner of the Codenames contest, we ended up totaling 258 entries so I thank you all for participating, it was a lot of fun and it really makes me want to run another contest like this in the near future, so keep your ears and eyes peeled!!

I'm not sure I was ready for this. This week's podcast logs in almost at a cool one hour fifteen minutes of awesome board game content.

Patrick Hillier reviews the new Splendor for Android App at the 2:08 mark.

I talk a bit about the games I've been playing, TroyesDivinare and even some Star Realms.

But in between all that you get my preview of the fantastic World's Fair 1893, which is launching on Kickstarter on September 29th, 2015. My wife Kerensa also joins me to talk a bit about it. That all starts around 8:28 in the podcast.

After that we talk a bit about Kickstarter stuff, and I am joined by Matt Wolfe, the designer of Wombat Rescue and Avalanche at Yeti Mountain. We talk about Avalanche at Yeti Mountain, board game design, his new podcast Game Designers of North Carolina Podcast and some upcoming Spiel titles he is looking forward to, a wonderful interview if I do say so myself. That fun starts at the 25:39 mark.

After that we talk a bit about acquisitions and such, and then Eric Booth joins us to review FFG's new game Forbidden Stars. Eric joins us at the 56:51 point.

After that, I give a handful more Spiel titles I am looking forward to learning more about and seeing. Grand Austria Hotel, Fog of Love, Adventure Land, 1844/1854 and Shakespeare. That starts right around the 1:05:25 mark, yup, over an hour!! :)

Thank you all for listening, I really hope you enjoyed it and I would especially love to get some feedback on this episode, it's a bit different than we normally do, first off it's longer, but secondly, there is a LOT of content from a good group of contributors.

Week 43 is upon us and we're flying solo this week, hopefully that changes next week as I hope to have Gabby and Kerensa on to talk a bit about World's Fair 1893.

But in the meantime I'm talking about games now!! I had a work trip this week that allowed me an evening at a game night at a store in Independence Missouri, The Game Cafe.

Games played this week, LibertaliaCodenamesFive TribesFairy TaleJurassAttack! and Blood Bowl Team Manager

Cover TabletopiaAvalanche at Yeti MountainGemPacked Cards and Campaign Trail in our Kickstarter segment.

We start talking a bit about games that we're excited about coming at Spiel this year, I give four titles that I'm excited about this week and we'll keep giving titles until Spiel happens on October 8th.

Also the second week of our Codenames contest is underway, be sure to check out the blog for a photo of the blog this week. The correct answers from last week were Buffalo and Soldier. This week's clue is Outfit:3

Alright, Week 42 is here and we've got a lot to talk about in this 30 minute podcast, yup, we've got two guests and we still managed to hit the 30 minute mark!!

We talk a lot of gaming with plays of Baseball Highlights 2045, Neuroshima Hex, Akrotiri, DrachenStark & Seasons!

Patrick Hillier throws his hat in the ring with a review of the Android app, Pandemic at the 15:49 mark.

Eric Booth talks a little bit about theme or rather, he talks a bit about why the "Pasted on Theme" argument is kind of a copout for reviewers at the 21:59 mark.

And there is a contest starting this week for a copy of the newest hotness from CGE, Codenames

Okay, so, since I was antsy, I ended up getting an extra copy of Codenames and what better way to celebrate my disorders than by giving away the unopened, brand spanking new hotness from Czech Games Editions. So what I’ve done is this, I’ve taken a photo of a game board which I will post on the blog and I am going to give clues this week and the next two weeks. What I want you all to do is email me the words that you believe will match up with the clue to wdyptw@gmail.com. Each correct guess will get you an entry into the contest. After three weeks, I’ll put all the entries into a bowl, or a random number generator, whichever works easier, and we’ll get a winner and they’ll get a brand new copy of Codenames. This contest will be open to everyone who wants to enter and I will cover shipping here in the United States, outside the United States I will cover the first $10 in shipping and if you want the game, you cover the rest and we’ll send it your way. I know, that sucks, but unless I figure out that shipping for it won’t be too bad I’m going to have to ask for a bit of help. This one is going to sell out, and sell out fast, I know that Cool Stuff Inc and Miniature Market both are out of copies so hopefully we can make some listener pretty happy and get them this wonderful game.

You gotta listen for the clue and check out the photo on the blog at www.wdyptw.wordpress.com

Have a great week!!!

Other games talked about are Avalanche at Yeti MountainVilla PalettiThe Magic LabyrinthCacao and Murder of Crows.

Kickstarter talk was all about Tabletopia and Dingo's Dreams.

I also give my four rules to abide by while sharing game time or really any time with me.

Short week of gaming this week, but a long week of gaming work. I've got two interviews for you all in this episode, but first we do talk about some DrachenStarkCastles of Mad King Ludwig and some Star Realms

I even mention a new Kickstarter that launched this week from Red Raven Games, Dingo's Dreams.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/953146955/dingos-dreams-city-of-iron-2nd-edition

But the meat of this week's podcast are two interviews with a couple of really fantastic people, Ken Grazier and Paul Rogan.

We talk to both about their experiences at this year's GenCon. Ken is kind of a regular and this was Paul's first time.

Ken's Interview starts at the 6:18 mark, and you can hear Paul at the 23:36 mark.

I owe both of these guys a huge thanks and I really do appreciate them taking the time to be interviewed for the show.

Be sure to check them out online.

Great week of gaming, including plays of GemPacked Cards, a playtest of a new game from Vital Lacerda, Lisboa, JurassAttack!, Five Tribes, Elysium, Ashes Castles of Mad King Ludwig. I had Ray and Bern from my local game group join me on Saturday for a few games. Kickstarter news is all about New Bedford, as that's the only thing tickling my Kickstarter acquisition disorder at the moment, but I'm sure that will change any minute.

Kerensa joins me on this podcast to talk for a few minutes as well.

Hope everyone has a fantastic week!!

Week 36 rolls in with a whimper but goes out with a bit of a roar with 2 games played on Sunday to salvage a gameless week. Touch on GemPacked Cards a bit, but look for a preview for it in the next week or two and we also got in a first play of the game Rokoko, which I thought was a fantastic two player game, hopefully Kerensa felt the same and we'll get it back to the table this week.

Kickstarter talk was all about New Bedford and the lack of Consequential on Kickstarter.

Last but not least I wrap up talking about why I started doing the podcast and blog. In short, I don't know how to do anything the easy way.

Week 35 rolls in with all the vengeance of a summer that feels as if it were scorned or not taken seriously, man it's been hot.

Not a whole lot of gaming even though we did have a meetup this past week, but we are gearing up for GenCant and I was the guest on the Docking Bay 94 Podcast and had a fantastic time talking with Jason and Jason, along with learning a bit about podcasting.

This week was a fantastic week of gaming, with 11 plays of 7 different games, two of those had been living in the dust for over a year.

Gabby and AnnaBeth join me for a few to chat about the week as well.

Kickstarter was pretty slow for me this past week, I backed nothing new and just keep riding the Hocus and JurassAttack! train.

We finish up the podcast with the continuation of our Top 10 games we are looking forward to come GenCon 2015. We won't be there, but that doesn't mean we can't help fuel the hype and get a bit excited ourselves.

Also, don't forget to check out and join in the fun that is #GenCant, find out more information at www.gencant.com.

Have a great week!!

After some setbacks, I rallied and got a fairly decent podcast out this week I think. Not a lot of games played this week, just a play of Eggs and Empires and then a play of Open Sesame. Acquisitions were in full swing though and the Kickstarter hits just keep coming, although Carson City Big Box is wrapping up soon, so if you are wanting to get in on that, be sure to do so quickly.

One of my friends from our local gaming group wanted to record a bit about a game he had played so I said "Let's do it", so please welcome Ray to the podcast, he's here discussing Eminent Domain: Microcosm. You can find Ray on twitter @instgamereview and he also has a review channel over on Youtube, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWiND_d2a4GqIWLpjUKTcCQ/videos give him a watch over there.

We close out the week with some Gen Con talk and my 10-6 list of games that I would rush to buy/demo at Gen Con this year, 5-1 will be here next week!

So week 32 sees us playing some more Arboretum and also previewing the new game coming to Kickstarter from Green Couch Games on July 10th, JurassAttack! I give my thoughts on it and then AnnaBeth and Gabby join me to talk a bit about it as well!

Kickstarter chatter about the ending of The Gallerist campaign and how Carson City Big Box and Hocus just keep on moving along. Also touch on the disappointment that Monster Truck Mayhem was cancelled.

Plus, I finally revive the Podcasts in my ear segment.

Have a great week!!

Good week of gaming with a lot of online games, played 5 games on Board Game Arena this week. Also got Last Will to the table for the first time and Transylvania: Curses and Traitors. Sunday saw some goofing off with AnnaBeth and Gabby with One Night Ultimate Werewolf and Arboretum, which led to our first "official" review for the podcast. Kerensa also joins me to talk a bit about Arboretum after my review to give a different view of the game.

Kickstarter continues to take a chunk out of my wallet, with The Gallerist, Carson City and now Hocus. Be sure to check those projects out.

Ahhh, it's good to be back although I owe a huge thank you to my wife for stepping in last week and helping me out, she did a fantastic job.

This week was a good week of gaming even though it only saw the play of 3 distinct games over 9 plays. Arboretum and Cacao led the way with a play of Scoville to spice things up a bit.

The Gallerist and Carson City hit Kickstarter this week and man does my wallet already feel the pinch, why do they do it this way.

I was feeling a bit wiped out this evening, so my lovely wife Kerensa offered to step in to do the podcast much to my surprise and I happily obliged.

Played a bit of Cacao again this week, some Flash Duel, some more One Night Ultimate Werewolf and some Rhino Hero along with swimming, running errands and a day of rained out baseball on Sunday.

Wombat Rescue is almost out of time, fully funded right now, just working on some stretch goals at the moment, don't miss out on the game unlike any game seen, played or smelt before!!

Also don't forget on the 16th to check out Monster Truck Mayhem on Kickstarter and then on the 18th The Gallerist drops. Get those Kickstarter wallets open and ready to go!!

I hope everyone enjoys the short podcast this week, I'll be back to normal next week I hope.

Week 28 rolls in with some great gaming! I hosted our local game groups quarterly meetup at our local public library, Missouri River Regional Library. We had 11 folks show up to shirk their Saturday chores and play some games and we got some good ones in.

Cacao, The Downfall of Pompeii, Dead of Winter, One Night Ultimate Werewolf, Cyclades and Arboretum. Then I came home and got to play Carcassonne with Kerensa and Gabby and then Richard Ritterschlag with AnnaBeth and Kerensa. I love it when good gaming happens.

Kickstarter talk is all about Epic from White Wizard and Wombat Rescue from Eagle Gryphon and Matt Wolfe. Be sure to check out their Kickstarter pages.

Good week of gaming here after Memorial Day, and I'm glad for it as the week after Geekway being barren of games began to worry me a bit. We talk a bit about Machi Koro, Cardline-Globetrotters, Arboretum, Tajemnicze Domostwo and even got a game of Cacao in!

Kickstarter's mentioned were Mottainai and Wombat Rescue.

And we branch out into other random ramblings, hope you enjoy the ramble.

No guests this week, but starting tomorrow I am going to start asking around for the next Meet the Gamer subject and I hope I find someone for next week's podcast, if not, it'll come the week after that.

Also a bit about a Kickstarter ending soon, The Siblings Trouble.

Talk a bit about a couple Kickstarters, Xenon Profiteer from TC Petty and The Siblings Trouble from Eduardo Baraf gets a bit of an extended look.

Alright, slow week of gaming so a quick 19 minute episode this week, but it's got some good things in there I think even if it is shorter.

Only two games got to the table this week, Volt:Robot Battle Arena and The Phantom Society. I give a brief overview of both of these. I talk a bit about Kickstarter, nothing new tempted me, but I did keep following Mistfall and I am enjoying watching Best Treehouse Ever just keep climbing.

I do also mention a new podcast to be watching for from friend, Travis Hill. It's called Low Player Count and it's going to be a podcast all about solo and two player games, can't wait for that one to drop. Keep an eye out for it around Sunday of next week.

Also mention our Board Game Twitter Fantasy Baseball league which I am so going to win this year, and you'll all get to hear a little about it as the season goes I'm sure, but be sure to mention to Anthony from Cardboard Jungle that his team looks pretty bad this year.

Week 18 starts with a bang, don’t forget the contest!! Enter at wdyptw@gmail.com Played some fantastic new games this week and a fantastic old favorite.

Start with playing some Thunder Alley at the church meetup on Monday night, had a great time with that game. Then on Thursday I helped with a Millenial Program at the public library and taught a game of Black Fleet. Saturday got in a couple plays of Tzaar, fantastic abstract that I lost horribly and a game of Ginkgopolis which is easily Top 3 material for me, if not number 1. Sunday we closed out the weekend with some Flying Monkeys and some Pitchcar with the girls.

Talk a bit about a Weigh Loss Challenge over on BGG: https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/189001/bgg-weight-loss-challenge

Well, we've made it to week 17! This week was a light week as far as gaming goes, but I did do some work on the blog, getting it up to snuff so to speak and we released our first Kickstarter preview. This one for Best Treehouse Ever from Green Couch Games and Scott Almes, be sure to check out our preview on Board Game Geek and also over on our blog, and if it sounds interesting to you be sure to check the Kickstarter which is launching on March 20th!

My wife and daughters joined me to talk a little bit this week so if the format is a bit wonky, that's because I'm trying to teach myself how to do add in guests that use pre-recorded material, so I apologise if things get repeated a bit as that'll happen when we have 3 different recording sessions. Mostly we talk about Best Treehouse Ever and Downfall of Pompeii. But be sure to listen as AnnaBeth gives her favorite game, it came as a shock to me to say the least.

Don't forget the contest we are running for a copy of Sheriff of Nottingham, just email me your favorite "gotcha" moment from your gaming life. You can email me an audio file of you telling the story or you can send it in text as well. Send submissions via email to wdyptw@gmail.com

Played lots of games this weekend, mostly due to our quarterly game day that we host at the public library in town. Games mentioned and talked about include, King of New York, Coup, Camel Up, Castles of Burgundy, One Night Ultimate Werewolf, X-Com, Medina and Red 7.

Also reveal that we'll be doing a preview podcast next week for Best Treehouse Ever from Scott Almes and Green Couch Games. A little clue, it's a fantastic family card drafting game where you are building a dream treehouse. Look for the podcast preview next week along with a new podcast of course.

Contest Contest Contest!!!!! We announce our Sheriff of Nottingham contest running from now until April 1st, we'll announce winners on the April 6th podcast. All we want you to do is submit to us your favorite "Gotcha" moment you've had in gaming. Submit it via email to us at wdyptw@gmail.com Either as an audio file or as a written story!! Light week of gaming so I try to make up for it by talking a bit later in the podcast about some board game video content creators that I enjoy and follow.

We did play a few games, Tajemnicze Domostwo aka Mysterium, Castles of Mad King Ludwig and Can't Stop.

Talked a bit about a couple of Kickstarter projects that I am backing, first up the Meeple Syrup Kickstarter and then Between Two Cities from Stonemaier Games.

Contest coming next week for a copy of Sheriff of Nottingham so get ready for that. And I do mention wanting to plan a sort of virtual Game Day on Board Game Arena sometime around the week of March 23rd possibly.

There seems to be a blank spot towards the end of the podcast, lasts about 1 minute, not sure what I did or why it happened. I do talk a bit after for another minute or so, my apologies!

A bit of another rambly episdode tonight, but I did try my hand at a little bit of editing. I am going to have to record this a bit earlier in the evening though if I am going to edit the entire show as that eats up almost double the recording time. Another lesson learned!!

Talk a bit about Panamax, Kerensa and I got another match up of that in, we played some Project Dreamscape, the new Kickstarter from Will and Sarah Reed, played some more Cash n Guns and some One Night Ultimate Werewolf.

Talk a little about how my digital gaming helped fill some voids this week, and talk a little about a game that frustrates the heck out of me but I keep coming back because I love it even though I am not that good at it.

BGG talk, convention talk, I ran the gambit here this evening!

Thanks for listening everyone, hope you all have a fantastic week!!

I did forget to mention one other Kickstarter that I backed, but we'll hit on that next week so I can do it justice. It's something a bit different for me, but it is board game related so not too far out there.

This week I hosted a game day at our house, which is a rarity, got a few new to us games played including Hollywood, Baseball Highlights: 2045, Roll for the Galaxy and some old favorites such as 7 Wonders and Cash n Guns. Also got a first play of Scoville in with Kerensa and she and I played our first game of Panamax and I got STOMPED!

Talk about three Kickstarter games going right now, Floating Market, Age of Empires III and Ghostbusters.

Then the BGG talk of a geeklist that has arisen from the ashes, our WDYPTW Geeklist and Ignacy Trzewiczek's Blog post about shortening podcasts.

That just about covers it! Thank you all for listening, it really means everything that there is someone out there. Be sure spread the word about the podcast, the more people hear about us, the more fun things we can possibly do in the future.

Also bring up a couple extra items, like how uncomfortable I am with going to new board game groups sometimes, especially when timing seems to be an issue and I can't get a game with new people.

Mention the possibility of an online board game meetup on BGA and a possible contest among other ramblings.

I hope this episode was better than last weeks as I still haven't managed to listen to last week's episode, I am fearful of it. :)

Going to apologise up front for this one seeming a bit scatter brained, that's kind of how I felt while recording. I didn't have a lot of time this week to put down my thoughts onto paper so I could put them into a more coherent style, but I signed up to do a weekly podcast, so here it is.

This week the games played are Kakerlaken Poker, Machi Koro, Fidelitas, Sherrif of Nottingham and Cash n Guns 2nd Ed.

Also talk a little about what caught my eye in the geeklist, I promise next week I'll have a more well put together section on the geeklist, as it was I had read everyones list, just hadn't had a lot of time to go over one in general to see if one stood out to talk to, they all had fantastic games in them.

Mention the Forged in Steel Kickstarter which at the time of recording was $3600 over it's funding goal, hopefully that was due to the listeners here and we were inching closer to the 19,000 stretch goal which is a fantastic looking Steel die.

Thank you all for listening, in December we had 711 downloads, in January we bumped that up to 1,017!! That's unbelievable to me, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

What Did You Play This Week Podcast Thing

This week was a bit light on gaming, but it seems a bit heavy on rambling, sorry, not sure how I stretched this out to a 28 minute long podcast, but I did.

This week we'll talk a little bit about Red 7, DC Deck Builder Game, Scoville, Colonial:Europe's Empires Overseas, San Juan and Castles of Mad King Ludwig.

I discuss my 2015 Vow of Solidarity with fellow BGG'er Steven O'Dhea and a bit about a Kickstarter that I think could use a bit of help.

Along with that, I ramble a bit about an upcoming segment I would like to host on the show and my future desire to have fellow gamers on the show somehow, but first, I have to learn how to pull that off.

Thank you all for listening once again, it really does mean the world to me. I like to talk, but if you folks aren't listening, who would know, haha. I'll see you all on the Geeklist!!!

Can you believe it's Week 9 and that I've made it this long?!?! I hope you all are enjoying this as much as I am, or at least close to as much as I am.

This week I talk about a few games that we've been playing, including Red 7, Castles of Mad King Ludwig, Medina(again), Apples to Apples, a PnP Unpub Prototype and Stack Up!

Talk a bit about The Long View Podcast this week, the Punching Cardboard Podcast, Shut Up and Sit Down and the 20 Minutes of Filler Podcast and their announcement of a game that I am really anxious to learn more about, Best Tree House Ever.

I also give my inital review of the Game of 49 a fun lighter weight auction game where you are vying to get 4 in a row.

Don't forget to go vote for the 2014 Picture of the Year on BGG!! https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/185590/item/3677452#item3677452

Thank you all for listening, it means the world to me and I'll see you in the geeklist!

Just me flying solo tonight to talk about a few games we played on this slow recovery week. Getting caught back up with work and cleaning and planning for my youngest daughter's 5th birthday party kind of put the kibbosh on much gaming. But we did do some, or else I'd be hard pressed to talk about anything.

Tajemnicze Domostwo/Mysterium, Dead of Winter, Diamonds, Star Realms and Council of Verona.

Podcasts talked about-Heavy Cardboard, The State of Games and Geek All Stars
