Patrick and Eric in the Morning

I'm not sure I was ready for this. This week's podcast logs in almost at a cool one hour fifteen minutes of awesome board game content.

Patrick Hillier reviews the new Splendor for Android App at the 2:08 mark.

I talk a bit about the games I've been playing, TroyesDivinare and even some Star Realms.

But in between all that you get my preview of the fantastic World's Fair 1893, which is launching on Kickstarter on September 29th, 2015. My wife Kerensa also joins me to talk a bit about it. That all starts around 8:28 in the podcast.

After that we talk a bit about Kickstarter stuff, and I am joined by Matt Wolfe, the designer of Wombat Rescue and Avalanche at Yeti Mountain. We talk about Avalanche at Yeti Mountain, board game design, his new podcast Game Designers of North Carolina Podcast and some upcoming Spiel titles he is looking forward to, a wonderful interview if I do say so myself. That fun starts at the 25:39 mark.

After that we talk a bit about acquisitions and such, and then Eric Booth joins us to review FFG's new game Forbidden Stars. Eric joins us at the 56:51 point.

After that, I give a handful more Spiel titles I am looking forward to learning more about and seeing. Grand Austria Hotel, Fog of Love, Adventure Land, 1844/1854 and Shakespeare. That starts right around the 1:05:25 mark, yup, over an hour!! :)

Thank you all for listening, I really hope you enjoyed it and I would especially love to get some feedback on this episode, it's a bit different than we normally do, first off it's longer, but secondly, there is a LOT of content from a good group of contributors.

Week 43 is upon us and we're flying solo this week, hopefully that changes next week as I hope to have Gabby and Kerensa on to talk a bit about World's Fair 1893.

But in the meantime I'm talking about games now!! I had a work trip this week that allowed me an evening at a game night at a store in Independence Missouri, The Game Cafe.

Games played this week, LibertaliaCodenamesFive TribesFairy TaleJurassAttack! and Blood Bowl Team Manager

Cover TabletopiaAvalanche at Yeti MountainGemPacked Cards and Campaign Trail in our Kickstarter segment.

We start talking a bit about games that we're excited about coming at Spiel this year, I give four titles that I'm excited about this week and we'll keep giving titles until Spiel happens on October 8th.

Also the second week of our Codenames contest is underway, be sure to check out the blog for a photo of the blog this week. The correct answers from last week were Buffalo and Soldier. This week's clue is Outfit:3

Alright, Week 42 is here and we've got a lot to talk about in this 30 minute podcast, yup, we've got two guests and we still managed to hit the 30 minute mark!!

We talk a lot of gaming with plays of Baseball Highlights 2045, Neuroshima Hex, Akrotiri, DrachenStark & Seasons!

Patrick Hillier throws his hat in the ring with a review of the Android app, Pandemic at the 15:49 mark.

Eric Booth talks a little bit about theme or rather, he talks a bit about why the "Pasted on Theme" argument is kind of a copout for reviewers at the 21:59 mark.

And there is a contest starting this week for a copy of the newest hotness from CGE, Codenames

Okay, so, since I was antsy, I ended up getting an extra copy of Codenames and what better way to celebrate my disorders than by giving away the unopened, brand spanking new hotness from Czech Games Editions. So what I’ve done is this, I’ve taken a photo of a game board which I will post on the blog and I am going to give clues this week and the next two weeks. What I want you all to do is email me the words that you believe will match up with the clue to wdyptw@gmail.com. Each correct guess will get you an entry into the contest. After three weeks, I’ll put all the entries into a bowl, or a random number generator, whichever works easier, and we’ll get a winner and they’ll get a brand new copy of Codenames. This contest will be open to everyone who wants to enter and I will cover shipping here in the United States, outside the United States I will cover the first $10 in shipping and if you want the game, you cover the rest and we’ll send it your way. I know, that sucks, but unless I figure out that shipping for it won’t be too bad I’m going to have to ask for a bit of help. This one is going to sell out, and sell out fast, I know that Cool Stuff Inc and Miniature Market both are out of copies so hopefully we can make some listener pretty happy and get them this wonderful game.

You gotta listen for the clue and check out the photo on the blog at www.wdyptw.wordpress.com

Have a great week!!!
